Editing/Proofreading

We Help You Create Stronger Papers

Kalite Editing has a staff of native-language editors, each specialized in a particular area of study. The Editing service is mainly used for academic studies and researches, though it is just as valuable when applied to other, non-academic, writing. We provide authors and researchers with the help and services they need.

Whether you are a native English-speaker or an author who has English as a second language, you only pay for the services you need thanks to the different editing packages and options we offer, each of which has its own special content.

It is normal for non-native English speakers to experience difficulties when writing with fluency and a concise narrative. That is why the services we offer are so useful, with the impression of having been written by a native-speaking author. At Kalite Editing Services, we try to evaluate your work with consideration given to content success, rather than your writing skills in English.

✅ Two-stage editing process with two editors

These editing services are alternatively referred to as copy editing, substantive editing, extensive editing or deep editing. The work we will perform in this editing ‘category’ involves all these processes and editing styles.

This editing service is aimed at authors who have completed their studies yet who experience deficiencies in their language use, fluency, sentence structure, and terminology use.

The service is completed according to two stages. In the first stage, an editor is chosen who specializes in the same academic subject as the text, who then undertakes a complete and comprehensive check of your manuscript. Herein, the language, fluency, and the enrichment of the manuscript are all guaranteed. In the second stage, a language specialist checks the editing made by the first editor and finalizes the manuscript for delivery.

Our editors are also able to provide comprehensive advice on the content and presentation of your study due to their expertise in the academic subject concerned.

If you have any questions about this editing service and the possible changes, we convey these questions to the editor and ensure that you receive their answers as soon as possible.

Why is editing necessary?

  1. Most languages have a different syntactic structure from that of English. Consequently, this results in many errors and mistakes that need to be corrected.

  2. Passive sentence structures are used in many languages and are often applied to English texts without their author’s awareness. As a majority of reviewers of English academic studies prefer an active structure, these passive sentences need to be reorganized and transformed so that they have an active structure.

  3. Fluency, sentence-organization, and paragraph-transition issues are often left unrecognized and unaddressed.

  4. Concepts of tense are different in English when compared to other languages. Consequently, the errors caused by concepts of tense must be eliminated.

  5. Authors’ understanding of English vocabulary and terminology in certain academic areas are often usually limited. Editors who are native English speakers, who have been taught in English throughout their academic lives (including doctoral and postgraduate studies), and who have been working as professional editors for many years have an in-depth and nuanced understanding of the English language. For example, a concept that might take an author four words in a language can be stated in one word by our editors. Consequently, our Editors are able to increase the fluency and academic efficacy of your manuscript.

  6. An editor who is a native English speaker can more easily detect unnecessary repetitions, redundancies and inconsistencies in your manuscript, as well as deviations from its main subject. Certain sentence structures cannot be translated into English and may appear odd or even incorrect when translated directly into English. Our editors are able to capture the precise meaning of a sentence while avoiding such translational problems.

  7. Informational and argumentative ambiguities are common when a text is translated word-for-word into English. Due to the unique structure of English, which differs from that of most languages, some sentences, such as those written by faculty members or translated by translators who are native speakers of a non-English language, might even be understandable by other speakers of that language. Nevertheless, the same sentence may not make sense to an American or British reader. Consequently, during the editing stage, our editors highlight these incidents, eliminate ambiguities, make the necessary changes, and provide an explanation to the author for future reference.

  8. Another common mistake relates to subject and predicate use. In certain languages, the subject is placed at the beginning of the sentence and the predicate at the end of the sentence. In English, however, the subject is placed at the beginning and the predicate is placed as close to the subject as possible. As many writers form their sentences according to the sentence structure of their language, either when writing in English directly or making word-for-word translations, they often place the predicate toward the end of the sentence. This is especially true for writers whose native language belongs to the Turkic and Uralic language families. Our editors ensure that these mistakes are corrected.

Certificate of Editing (COE)

Occasionally an editor or a reviewer of a journal will criticize articles stating that “the manuscript needs to be edited by a native speaker of English”. Such criticism results in an unnecessary expansion of the publication process and often articles are rejected as a result. Consequently, many journals have imposed a criterion that all submissions must first be checked by a native English-speaking professional editor and that the submission comes with a certificate corroborating this fact.

At Kalite Editing Services we award a Certificate of Editing (COE) across all our editing packages and documents. With COE document, our company guarantees that your article or study has been checked by a professional editor, who is also a native English speaker and who is specialized in the relevant study area. We strongly recommend that you send this Certificate to the journal or publishing house to which you are submitting your manuscript. Sending the COE document to journal editors facilitates the acceptance process by improving your article’s language quality, lowering the possibility of negative feedback and time spent communicating with the editor.

We guarantee a FREE re-editing of manuscripts criticized for language use. After the editing stage, we make the necessary revision considering all kinds of customer feedback and suggestions.
